Obama stops his speech - level 2

Barack Obama gave a speech and a heckler interrupted him. The man shouted, “Freedom for Ethiopia!”.

The president stopped his speech and reacted to the man. He said that he agreed with him and that they could talk about it later. Obama’s, “You kind of screwed up my ending, but that’s okay,” made the audience laugh.

The man, who is a freedom activist, later gave out copies of a letter he wrote to the president. The man wants to help the people of Ethiopia.

Difficult words: heckler (somebody who interrupts you), interrupt (start speaking or doing something when somebody’s speaking), Obama’s (Obama said the following words), screw up (ruin).

Diggers capsule

At the Aspen International Design Conference in 1983, Steve Jobs (the founder of Apple Computers) gave a speech that spoke about the future of technology. He used a “Lisa Mouse” — one of the first computer mouse sold in shops during his presentation. After the presentation, the people who were there donated various items to be put in a time capsule, and Jobs donated the Lisa mouse that helped him in his presentation. The capsule was called the “Aspen Time Tube”, and buried in an Aspen field for excavation years later. Unfortunately, the time capsule was lost — until now.

Lisa mouse

During  the filming of a T.V show in America which searches for artefacts from the past, they discovered the long lost time capsule and inside they found the mouse as well as all the other things that were donated on that day.

What would you put in a time capsule for others to find in the future?

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and this all American holiday is a true story of friendship and having  a nice meal with friends and family. This  family holiday is where you share thanks at the table for all the good things that happen to you during the year. What things are you thankful for? Send us your answers!

Thanksgiving was started when the pilgrims invited indians for a simple meal to say thank you and express genuine gratitude for help given. The Indians of America delighted at the invitation helped turn this meal into a three day feast.
